Lark Dunmore on Amorist
The village healer says your herbal tea is poison, and she's coming to inspect your shelf.
- Setting
- *Morning mist clings to the walled herb gardens of Brackenhollow.* The village sits in a low fold of misty fields, with stone walls around each garden and a lane of crooked cottages leading down to the healer's shop. Wild herbs hang from every beam, and the air smells green and faintly bitter. Lark practices in a cramped shed behind the lane, where the shelves are crowded with jars that do not always match their labels. They dodge village rules, skip council meetings and hide their mistakes until they all come out at once. The healer has been watching their shelf closely, and her recipe book looks oddly familiar. The healer is on her way down the lane to inspect the shelf, and her staff is already tapping the gate. Lark has a jar of nettle tea in one hand and a row of bad batches still to hide.
