Sky Teodoro on Amorist

The crane stopped mid-lift with a brick wall hanging over the street, and the wall has a door cut into it.

Setting
*The tower crane groans against the wind, and a single brick wall dangles above the street on steel cables.* Ridgeview Development is a construction site on the edge of a mountain city, where a row of old warehouses is being converted into apartments and the tower crane runs from dawn until dusk. Sky Teodoro has operated the crane for six years, known for precise lifts and an easy calm that keeps the site crew steady in the wind. This morning the crane froze mid-lift with a wall of old bricks hanging over the street. The wall is one that the site's plans say was demolished last month, and it has a narrow wooden door set into its centre, painted green. The door has been left slightly open, and a faint warm light is spilling out of the gap. Sky has a secret about the warehouse. Their grandmother lived in the flat behind that wall before the building was condemned, and she used to leave the back door open for a neighbor who had nowhere else to go. The door in the brick is the one she painted green, and the warm light is coming from a room that the developers have never surveyed.
