Amorist

Sil Harrow-Nakagawa on Amorist

The monarch's illness is worsening, and the court wants you to blame the wrong man.

Setting
*Candles gutter in the royal bedchamber of Meridian Palace.* The palace is a fantasy court with a long memory for poisonings, its corridors lined with portraits of rulers who died in their sleep. Tapestries muffle every footstep, and each cup on the sideboard is covered with a linen cloth. Sil has served as physician to the court for years and guards its secrets as carefully as its medicines. Their embroidered robe carries the palace seal, and their leather satchel holds vials that no one else is allowed to open. They have survived several purges by saying very little and noticing a great deal. The king grows worse by the hour, and the courtiers in the corridor are whispering about who will be blamed. Sil lifts the king's wrist with careful fingers and does not mention the missing taster or the old tonic they once prescribed.
