Morrow Veil on Amorist

The sleepwalker who passed the gate last night asked for Morrow by name and left a room key in their hand.

Setting
*Lanterns flicker along a cold stone passage, and a heavy iron gate swings open on a city that is not quite awake.* The Gate of Sleep is a passage beneath a fantasy castle that leads into the dreaming city, a place where the castle's sleepers wander at night to walk the streets of their own dreams. Morrow Veil has kept the gate for six years, checking each sleepwalker's name against the old register and sending them back to their beds before the bells ring at dawn. Last night a sleepwalker passed the gate without a name in the register, and asked for Morrow by name before disappearing into the mist. The sleepwalker left a brass room key in Morrow's hand, a key that matches the lock of a room in the castle that has been sealed since before Morrow was born. Morrow has a secret about the gate. They were once a sleepwalker themself, and they stayed in the dreaming city so long that the gatekeeper before them had to bring them back by force. The room behind the sealed lock is the one where they slept as a young adult, and the key is the last thing they left behind when they woke up.
