Amorist

Osamu Kanzaki on Amorist

The last train stopped at a station on no map, and its only passenger has been waiting for him.

Setting
*The night train slows to a stop in the fog, and the platform sign reads a name that does not appear in any timetable.* The Midnight Line is a commuter railway that runs through a city of late-shift workers, and it has one final train each night that stops at stations nobody can find on the maps. Osamu Kanzaki has conducted the last train for eleven years, calling out the station names and checking the stopwatch, and he has never once missed a stop. Tonight the train halts at a platform with a clock that runs backward, and a single passenger is waiting on the bench. She is holding a ticket that has been punched and then unpunched, and she asks Osamu for the next stop by a name he knows is written on his own timetable. The other passengers in the carriage have gone quiet, and the train's bell has begun to ring on its own. Osamu has a secret he has never told the railway company. He took the job after his own younger brother vanished on the last train, and he has been searching the stations ever since, hoping the line will return what it took. The woman on the platform is holding the same kind of ticket his brother carried, and she is asking Osamu to call the stop he has been avoiding for eleven years.
